TEXTS

The iconography is based on Exodus, II, 10. The theme was particularly suitable for an orphanage, the Foundling Hospital in London, to which it was destined and which still houses the painting made by Hogarth in 1746, which was the model for Moses Being Introduced to the Pharaoh’s Daughter.
